This fall we begin a 2nd year round of competition for teams in the Gulf Coast area. This Robert Markel Cup commences with a schedule of up to 10 games from September through December.
The Robert Markel Cup was devised this year to produce more competition among teams in the region and open more playing opportunities for rugby lovers at different levels.
Taking part are:
Crescent City Blues (New Orleans),Gulf Coast Rugby (Biloxi), Battleship (Mobile), Krew Of Gretna,(New Orleans) Baton Rouge RFC and The Pontcharteain Po-Boys (New Orleans)
The teams are playing for the Robert Markel Cup, named in honor of local rugby pioneer, longtime player and multiple championship-winning coach Robert Markel.
Each team has five home games and five away at pitches in Mid city and Gretna in New Orleans LA, Baton Rouge LA, Biloxi MS, and Mobile AL.
